Know Your Keywords

Sit down and determine what the key words are for your product and industry. Next, review your webpages to be sure that those keywords are occurring regularly throughout the site. Then, look at competitor sites to see how they describe themselves allowing you to expand your own keywords creating a greater advantage for you.

 

Refresh your website often with new material or include material that is of a reference type for your industry.

 

Key Point: Search engines also look at how often sites are accessed by users to determine their ranking.

 

The key point above is the reason that websites include free reference material. Examples of this include: new weekly recipes, or conversion tables, or something that a large number of people are interested in, or that may return additional search results for users. This is the cheapest and easiest way to attract more users.

 

If a page is valuable enough it can be registered separately by a company. Just make sure the page with the recipes, for example, has selection options on a sidebar that enable the user to reach the home page or product pages of the company.

 

Some companies offer contests or other incentives--this works often, but be careful with international clients--this may be illegal in their country. Other companies have news feeds for their particular industry or white papers to increase traffic.
